Well not much changed in this weekends box office stats. “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” was this weeks top seller again for the second weekend in a row after its release last weekend. It brought in 24.5 million this weekend bringing it to a total 60 million which is good for two weeks. For those of you who dont know, this film is animated and available for 3d viewing in select theaters. It has a great cast. The leads are Bill Hader who is hilarious and Anna Faris who is also funny. It also has Neil Patrick Harris, Andy Samberg, Will Forte and of course, because whats a kids movie without, Mr. T.
The highest grossing movie out right now is still the same from last week as well, “Inglorious Bastards”. Now at 114.5 million. But it was in 10th place for highest weekend gross. It’s up to being the 334th highest grossing movie of all time. Which doesnt sound very high, but think about how many movies have been made.
The order of the rest of the movies are as follow… 2. Surrogates 3. Fame 4. The Informant! 5. I can do bad all by myself 6. Pandorum 7. Love Happens 8. Jennifers Body 9. 9 (haha) 10. Inglorious Bastards.
John Krasinski (“Jim” from The Office) directed his first movie which was an indie film that came out today so no one will probably see it until late 2010, maybe early 2011 called “brief interviews with hideous men”. Speaking on John Krasinski, last month he got engaged to actress Emily Blunt who was in a really good indie film i saw last week called “Sunshine Cleaning” with Amy Adams and Alan Arkin. Amber from class saw it too and liked it so if you get the chance to you should. If you like those quirky kind of indie films then you should also check out those movies I mentioned in my last blog and also “Garden State” “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” and “Donnie Darko”.
ps. “Eagle vs Shark”, one of the movies i mentioned last week (along with “Wristcutters: a love story”) stars Jemaine from “The Flight of the Concords” who are very popular right now.

OMG! I love love love Garden State, Donnie Darko and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I know it’s not really quirky but it’s on the Independent Film Channel all the time and it’s called Love & Sex, it’s so cute. Make sure you see it sometime! Oh and it’s “basterds” btw, misspelled purposely

yeah you’re right, I knew that, I just didnt notice i spelled it the right way when I was typing this out real fast. for anyone who wants to know… it is spelled “basterds” with an “e”. The title was inspired by an english film called “The Inglorious Bastards” with a the and spelled correctly. It was also about american gi’s behind enemy lines. He changed it to basterds because he felt it made them seem even dumber or worse of people. (i dont remember his exact quote of why he chose it to be misspelled, but it was something like that. if you search for his interview at nbc.com/conan you can watch him talk about it.)

definitely want to see brief interviews with hideous men when it comes out. By the way the indie films listed are all amazing, if anyone hasn’t seen them you should definitely check them out.

yeah i really want to see that so bad. it comes out this week in parts of new york and California but unfortunately since its an indie film, the general public probably wont see it until it gets released on dvd, which takes like a year to happen with indie films. lame.
